Jann Saven

I am an artist living and working in Cape Town, South Africa. I obtained a Bachelor of Arts (HONS) Jewellery at Middlesex University in London, UK. My training in 3-dimensional design and fabrication has been a strong foundation for my move towards fine art more recently. // I liken my artistic practice to alchemy, an exchange of energy. It focuses on exploration, investigation and play.

The crossover of process and end product is fluid and continually in flux and development. Sculpture, installation, performative art, painting, land art and photography are the resulting expressions. // Nature connectedness lays a foundation for my energetic inspiration and impetus to create. My preference for organic materials as part of my visual language is intrinsic to my creative practice.

It fulfils a strong desire and intention to be resourceful, innovative and work with the ephemeral. // Meaning transpires in the making.

Methods of construction are often repetitive, giving rise to a meditative atmosphere of stillness in my work.

I experience this stillness as a prayer for the greater good of humanity, for a constructive collective consciousness and as a deeply feminine space.
